Hi, my name is Jon and I'm a workaholic.

I am happy to say that I've worked in the film and television industry for most of my adult life (since 1988). I have been working as a film and TV editor in Los Angeles since 1997. From 2005 to 2017, I was employed full-time in post-production at Nickelodeon Animation Studio and worked on all of their hit shows, including: SpongeBob SquarePants, Fairly OddParents, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and many others. I have been working as a freelance  editor since the summer of 2017.

In May 2020, I was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in the category: "Outstanding Editing in an Animated Program" for my work as the Supervising Picture Editor on a children's cartoon called "Pinky Malinky" (Netflix); a documentary style story of an anthropomorphic hot dog boy living in a human world. Of course, I have been in high demand ever since receiving this great honor.

Lately, I've been focusing on my writing career. I have two novels published, as well as a book of poetry. More books are presently in the works.

I was born and raised in Palo Alto, California and attended Foothill College in neighboring Los Altos Hills, where I studied business and film/TV production. I volunteered for years at nearby De Anza College Media Center in Cupertino in the mid-1980s and cut my teeth there writing, producing, and directing original content for the city's cable TV station.

My love for filmmaking began at the young age of 8, when I inherited my grandfather's Super-8 film camera and began shooting short comedy films with my friends. Screenings of these films were extremely popular with many of the kids in my neighborhood. I also wrote and drew comics for my schoolmates throughout grade school and junior high.

I was hugely influenced by my grandfather, Chapin Kinyon, who performed vaudeville in Minnesota as a child and also created comics at a young age. Another inspiration was my great-uncle Dan Glass, a famous animator who worked for Fleischer Studios in NYC, working on Bimbo, Koko the Clown, Popeye, and Betty Boop films.

In years past, I was best known as the founder of Hot Rod Condoms, a condom brand I launched in 1994. This endeavor took me on several trips around the world, sponsoring events from concerts to film festivals to auto races, and on and on, as well as donating and supporting AIM Healthcare Foundation, Planned Parenthood, and various HIV/AIDS awareness programs. The brand was featured on several Playboy TV and Playboy Radio shows, in addition to local and national news programs, print magazines, and talk shows.

Others know me as an underground filmmaker. My film God Squad! premiered at the Academy Award accredited LA International Short Film Festival in 2002 and went on to screen at dozens of other festivals around the U.S. The film tallied more than 1 million views on Undergroundfilm.com between 2003-2005. I have produced and directed many other short films and videos over the years and I was a regular contributor of content to the Backseat Film Festival which holds events in several major cities across the country each year.

I'm also fairly well-known as the creator of The Jimi Homeless Experience, which started out as a webcomic in 2006. The following year I wrote and produced a full length CD of parody songs entitled "Are You Homeless?" featuring over-the-top parodies of Jimi Hendrix' biggest hit songs. Renowned Hendrix historian Ken Voss gave the material a rave review in his world-famous "Voodoo Child" fanzine. Between 2007-2009, I assembled and managed The Jimi Homeless Experience band - booking and promoting a live stage show in and around Hollywood. I also recorded and released another two song EP. Several hours of footage was shot for a Jimi Homeless mockumentary feature-length film but it will likely never be completed.
