INTRODUCTION 

The story is an absolute outrage, my friend, a true shocker. A contorted, gut-wrenching tale, that at times will leave you reeling in disbelief. And the most disturbing thing about it, what is truly sickening, is that the only shred of justice my family will likely ever see is in my telling of this story.

So listen up, because the truth about my father’s cold-blooded murder was never supposed to be known. It was meant to be buried and forgotten, left to rot in the darkest corner of a police evidence room. The very people entrusted to solve this heinous crime were the ones who covered it up. Five decades of precious time wasted. Two whole goddamn generations of lawmen, all complicit in hiding the truth from us.

And even now, after their dirty deeds were dragged out into the light of day, exposed for all to see, no one has offered us any sort of restitution. No mea culpa. No public apologies. Just more smoke and mirrors, more lies to keep the truth at bay until all involved are dead.

Writing this book damn near killed me, no joke. It was the single hardest thing I’ve ever done. But I soldiered on. I wrote it all down, every single excruciating detail, in chronological order. I relived the entire nightmare over and over again, every time I sat down at my desk. But I knew I had to do it. My father deserved justice, but it had long been denied. He didn’t count because he lived outside the mainstream. He didn’t have friends in high enough places. So it was left to me to make it right.
