Short Stories

A short story about my stepdad was my first published article and the first piece of writing that I was paid for - which officially makes me a professional writer - according to a writer friend of mine. In total, I had seven stories published before OZY went down in flames. Five of my stories were ranked "Most Popular" and two of them went viral on Digg and Reddit (one was my first article).

Lately, I’ve been focusing nearly all of my attention on writing. I recently launched a SUBSTACK, and I have been slowly archiving a large number of non-fiction short stories I’ve written (some published, some not), as well as putting out some new material - most of which is FREE to read. Financial supporters of my fledgling writing career on SUBSTACK will get access to those, as well as to previews of the books I’m currenly in the process of writing and other perks.

I now consider myself a writer and plan on writing for the rest of my life. But in all honesty, I’ve been a writer and storyteller since I was very young - I just never had anything published until Eugene S. Robinson, Editor at Large at OZY Magazine discovered me and dragged me out into the light of day. I'd like to give a special thanks to him and the many others who have been encouraging my behavior.

Here is a list of some of the stories I’ve had published:

Who Murdered My Father? This was the third story I wrote for OZY. It’s about the unsolved murder of my father in 1972 and the subsequent lies and runaround that the San Francisco Police Department forced my family to endure.

Stepdaddy Dearest: Putting The Crime Into Crime Family. I was raised by a career criminal – an armed robber and drug dealer - and somehow I turned out OK. Yeah, I can't explain it myself.

Raising Hell, Raised by Hells Angels. Our life-long family friend Danny Reb became the widely revered President of the Daly City chapter of the Hells Angels, he taught me many valuable lessons while I was growing up.

Will The Real Parachuting Hijacker Please Stand Up. One of my mom's closest friends spent 30 years as a suspect in the D.B. Cooper hijacking case and I think he might actually be the guy..

When Jesus Freaks Go Bad. How an accidental death turned my old childhood friend into a religious zealot and later into a hard-right gun nut.

That Time I Was Roofied In Hong Kong. This is the tale of the dangerous vacation experience I had in Wan Chai, Hong Kong a few years back. And yes, I might have been killed!
